“Lelo Burti” — a traditional folk game

Two teams, Upper and Lower Shukhuti, battle for a heavy leather ball filled with earth and wine. The game has no strict rules but is filled with spirit, strength, and remembrance. The winning side carries the ball to the grave of the most recently deceased villager, honoring their ancestors. This is more than a game — it’s a living tradition, a cultural ritual, and a reflection of the Georgian spirit.
